Overview[]
Short period Sungrazing comet Hyperbius, sometimes known as just "Hyperbius," was discovered in December 1647. To the unaided eye, it appeared as a small white tail that would become larger as time went on. At its perihelion, the tail extends to 0.34 AU before becoming smaller and vanished.
Formation[]
Hyperbius was created by a collision between a bigger comet and an interstellar asteriod, and it was just 100 thousand years old when it was formed, it was covered in lava before it cooled down. That is the reason Hyperbius seems so smooth, with no impact craters, and why Hyperbius orbits so close to the parent star.
